Medical Literature Search Sample
Below please find a link to a sample Medical Literature Search Report.
This particular report was prepared for a client with advanced UPSC (uterine papillary serous carcinoma) who wanted to get a second opinion, and was tailored to her specific circumstances. Please note that the content and detail of all our medical literature search reports vary with the clinical condition and needs of our clients.
We strongly encourage clients to discuss our findings with their doctors.
We specifically include all the articles that come up in our targeted search, because we feel the client's physicians should be the ones to decide which information will allow them to best help the client plan and implement the optimal course of action. Ideally, the doctors will then contact and get a second opinion from one or more of the leading medical teams identified in the report.
If clients would like for Raphael Medical to be involved in, or to manage this process on their behalf, we are always here to help.
While the attached sample report contains only the medical search results, in our actual, full reports we explain our findings, emphasize those findings that are most promising, and include guidelines and information for clients on how to optimize their care.
We strive to be as comprehensive as possible. In this case for example we noted the fact that the client's close female relatives might consider seeking a genetic consultation, and testing if recommended. If their insurance would not cover this, Raphael Medical could recommend a very good and relatively inexpensive testing service.
The sample report consists of three tables/sheets:
-
Table/Sheet1: Literature by Level of Interest
This table displays the search results in three categories, of special interest, of interest, and of secondary interest, based on the client's clinical condition and limitations. The abstracts of most articles may be viewed by clicking on the authors in column C. Institutions at which specialists published multiple articles have been color coded for easy identification.
-
Table/Sheet 2: Experts - Centers of Excellence
This table contains a list of some of the experts who, based on our research, appear to be leading innovation in the treatment of advanced uterine papillary serous carcinoma. Specialists' profiles may be viewed by clicking their names in column A.
-
Table/Sheet 3: Clinical Trials
This table lists various relevant clinical trials. Full trial descriptions are available by clicking on the titles in column A.
Even though the report includes the e-mail addresses and phone numbers of many (in this case all) specialists, we strongly recommend that clients do not contact the specialists themselves, but that they rather ask their doctor or Raphael Medical to represent them. (In this sample report an asterisk (*) has been added to all e-mail addresses in order to protect the specialists from spam).
